Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Gochar Orrery ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not install or use the App.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Samyak Jain ("Developer", "we", "our", "us"), the individual developer of the App.

2. Description of Service

Gochar Orrery is an educational application that visualises the Indian Vedic astronomical calendar system (Panchanga) using a 2D geocentric orrery. It displays planetary positions, Tithi, Nakshatra, Yoga, Karana, Hora, Muhurat windows, Rahu Kalam, and related Vedic calendar data computed using the sidereal (Lahiri Ayanamsa) coordinate system.

The App is strictly an educational and informational tool. It is not an astrology consultation service, and it does not provide personalised astrological predictions, professional advice of any kind, or guidance intended to be acted upon without independent judgement.

3. Educational Disclaimer

IMPORTANT — PLEASE READ CAREFULLY.

All content in the App, including but not limited to Panchanga data, planetary positions, Muhurat timings, Nakshatra details, Tithi calculations, and any associated lifestyle or dietary tips, is provided for educational and informational purposes only.

• This App is not a substitute for professional astrological advice.
• This App is not a substitute for medical, nutritional, psychological, financial, legal, or any other form of professional advice.
• Vedic calendar data and astronomical calculations are presented to help users understand and appreciate the Indian astronomical tradition, not to direct life decisions.
• The Developer makes no claim that any astrological interpretation or Muhurat window will produce any particular outcome.

Any action you take based on content within the App is taken entirely at your own risk and discretion.

4. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age to use the App. By using the App you represent and warrant that you are at least 13 years of age. If you are under 18, you confirm that you have obtained parental or guardian consent.

5. User Account

The App uses Google Sign-In via Firebase Authentication. By signing in you agree to Google's Terms of Service (policies.google.com/terms) in addition to these Terms. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Google account.

You may delete your account at any time via the Profile screen within the App. Deletion removes your authentication record from Firebase. Locally stored data (birth details, preferences) is cleared when you uninstall the App.

6. Subscriptions

6.1 Subscription Plans

The App offers optional paid subscriptions that unlock premium features including an ad-free experience and, when available, personalised Sarvāṣṭakavarga transit analysis.

Prices are set in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store and may vary by region due to applicable taxes and store pricing tiers.

6.2 Billing

Subscriptions are billed through your App Store or Google Play account. Billing recurs automatically at the end of each subscription period unless cancelled.

6.3 Free Trial

Free trial periods, if offered, are specified at the point of purchase. You will be charged at the end of the trial if you do not cancel before it expires.

6.4 Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time via your App Store or Google Play subscription management settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You retain access to premium features until the period ends.

6.5 Refunds

All purchases are subject to the refund policies of the Apple App Store and Google Play. The Developer does not issue independent refunds for subscription periods that have already commenced. Refund requests must be directed to the respective store.

7. Advertisements

The App may display rewarded video advertisements via Google AdMob in the Playground feature. Rewarded ads are user-initiated — they are only shown when you choose to watch an ad in exchange for an extended feature unlock. You are never required to watch an ad to use the core features of the App.

You may opt out of personalised advertising at any time via your device advertising settings as described in our Privacy Policy.

8. Intellectual Property

8.1 Developer's Property

All original content in the App — including but not limited to the orrery visualisation design, canvas rendering code, UI layout, Panchanga presentation, educational content, and brand assets — is the intellectual property of Samyak Jain, protected under Indian and international copyright law.

You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works of any part of the App without express written permission from the Developer.

8.2 Third-Party Software

The App incorporates open-source software components. Notices and licence terms for these components are available within the App under About → Legal Information → Open-Source Libraries. Key third-party components include:

• Swiss Ephemeris (Astrodienst AG) — AGPL-3.0. Source code available on written request to unalome.dev@gmail.com.
• provider, firebase_core, geolocator, flutter_local_notifications, shared_preferences — MIT or BSD licences.

9. Prohibited Uses

You agree not to:

• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App except as permitted by applicable law
• Use the App for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the App's infrastructure
• Resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the App or its content without written permission
• Scrape, extract, or systematically harvest Panchanga data or astronomical output from the App for use in a competing product

10. Termination

The Developer reserves the right to suspend or terminate your access to the App at any time if you materially breach these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the App ceases immediately. Sections 3, 8, 11, and 12 survive termination.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

• The App and all content within it are provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or accuracy.
• The Developer does not warrant that the App will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that astronomical calculations will be accurate for every historical or future date.
• In no event shall the Developer be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or in connection with your use of the App, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
• The Developer's total aggregate liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the total amount you paid for App subscriptions in the three months preceding the claim.

12. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms or the App shall first be attempted to be resolved by good-faith negotiation. If unresolved within 30 days, disputes shall be submitted to binding arbitration in India under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act 1996. The seat of arbitration shall be India. The language of arbitration shall be English.

Nothing in this clause prevents either party from seeking interim injunctive relief from a court of competent jurisdiction.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will be revised. Continued use of the App after updated Terms are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. For material changes, we will provide in-app notification.
